The 2024 harvest is shaping up to be a memorable one in the Willamette Valley. The growing season began with a mild, wet spring that gave the vines a steady start. While the rains persisted longer than expected, they helped build healthy canopies and replenish the soil. As the summer unfolded, temperatures remained moderate, with a few warm stretches in July that accelerated ripening. The absence of extreme heat waves or smoke events allowed for slow, even development in the fruit.

Now, as we approach mid-September, we’re anticipating a balanced harvest with great potential for complexity and finesse. While a late bud break usually hints at a delayed harvest, June came in swinging with record warmth, allowing us to catch up by nearly three weeks. Now, as we look ahead to mid-September, the forecast is promising warm, dry, and perfect for ripening which means most of us Oregon winemakers are brimming with excitement for what promises to be another outstanding harvest!  

As we wait for the 2024 harvest to fully ripen, there’s a quiet sense of anticipation. The vines are nearing their peak, especially with Pinot Noir which will be ripening into October, and now it’s a matter of patience, trusting that the final weeks will bring the balance and character we’ve been working towards all season.  In the cellar, we’re already reflecting on the lessons this vintage has taught us—each one offering a glimpse into what the next wines might become. Winemaking is always about looking ahead, yet rooted in the present, and right now, we’re poised on the edge of discovery. The fruit will soon speak, and we’re ready to listen. We believe in letting the wine speak for itself. There’s an authenticity to these wines that’s hard to ignore. It’s as if each bottle carries a piece of the vineyard within it—unfiltered, unrefined, just as nature intended.  

At its heart, winemaking is a process of discovery, one where patience and intuition guide each decision. Each year, with every harvest, we learn something new about our vineyards, about what they’re truly capable of, and this vintage has been no exception.
