Born and raised in Newberg, Oregon, lives in Dundee with her husband and two daughters. She started her career in accounting, later moving to the construction industry. In 2015, she joined Dobbes and was promoted to General Manager in 2021. She holds a WSET Level II, an Associates in Accounting, and a Wine Business Management Certificate. Kari enjoys family time, traveling, reading, and watching her daughter dance.

If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? I would share this bottle with Beth Freeman, a dear mentor of mine. She is the person who helped shape me as a young adult to work hard for my path in life and never give up on my dreams. She also gave me tough love when I needed it the most to become the woman I am today.

Born the son of a winemaker in Napa Valley, Derek initially pursued a career in art, earning a bachelor’s degree in studio art from the University of Redlands in 2003. He moved to Oregon to work as an artist, but when gallery work didn’t provide stability, Derek turned to restaurants, where his passion for food and wine was reignited, ultimately leading him back to the wine industry.
What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? Grand Assemblage Pinot Noir.
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? My wife, because she might read my bio.
What meal are you sharing with your person? Homemade pizza, that someone else made.

What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? 2021 Eola-Amity Hills Cuvée Pinot Noir.
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? I would share the bottle with my Grandpa Bolliger who passed nearly 20 years ago. He instilled in our family strong family values, work ethic, and tough women. I would love to discuss my career, and family and get his thoughts on how life is today.
What meal are you sharing with your person? Bloody Mary with all the fixin’s.
What song is playing? “My Way” by Elvis was my grandpa’s song and anytime we are talking about him still to this day, almost 20 years later, it will randomly play.

Erin’s passions are wine and travel, especially when they come together. A Willamette Valley native, her love for wine developed early, and her travel bug ignited after studying abroad in Florence, Italy while attending Gonzaga University. Erin has since visited over 30 countries and spent two and a half years in New Zealand, learning viticulture and winemaking. After returning to Oregon, she worked in the Wine By Joe cellar for the 2014 harvest, and has grown with the company since.

If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? My twin sister. She loves Dobbes wine, and there isn’t a single bottle she doesn’t appreciate. I’m required to check a case every time I visit her.

Miguel worked for numerous Willamette Valley vineyards before we were lucky to have him join the Wine By Joe team in 2010. He is dedicated and hardworking, and his easygoing manner and sense of humor make him a lot of fun to be around. Miguel enjoys traveling and wants to see different parts of the world, especially Alaska. He has travelled all across the United States and Mexico and is happy to call Dayton, Oregon ‘Home’, where he lives with his wife and 4 children.

Martha grew up in the Willamette Valley and, following some years away for school and travel, is glad to be back home. She encountered the world of wine while walking across Spain, getting to sample each region’s reds as she made her way. With degrees in the human sciences, her favorite aspect is the connections that are formed when a bottle is shared among friends or strangers: when not just the wine but the stories and laughter start to flow. In her free time you’ll find her analyzing indie films and hiking in the Chehalem Hills. And if the stars align: possibly singing karaoke.
What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? The dark Rosé I experimentally created during Harvest 2021. Only one case was bottled!
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? My dear friend who died in 2021 – he would have been delighted with me.
What meal are you sharing with your person? Something beefy and Venezuelan, with his mom’s style of handmade arepas.

Cellar Lead
Originally from Florida, Kat discovered her passion for wine while living in Spain and furthered her experience with a harvest in Chianti, Italy. She moved to Oregon in 2020 to immerse herself in Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, working in several roles at Dobbes while gaining additional experience making both still and traditional method sparkling wines throughout the valley. Most recently, she served as Assistant Winemaker at a boutique Dundee winery and completed a vintage in Australia’s Yarra Valley. She is currently continuing her winemaking education through the UC Davis Winemaking Certificate Program. When she’s not in the cellar, you’ll likely find her enjoying the sunshine with her dog.
What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? The Grenache Blanc! I love that we make a unique aromatic white; it’s bright, fresh, and floral.
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? My husband. We love analyzing wines and swapping notes. Also, a few of my very dear friends who have been hugely supportive of my winemaking career – you know who you are. It’s special to be able to share a piece of where it all started.
What meal are you sharing with your person? That’s a tough one! My husband and I LOVE to try new recipes all the time at home. But my homemade pumpkin ravioli with sage and brown butter sauce is a love language.

Cellar Technician + Lab Assistant
Romina Madrid studied Agronomy at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, specializing in viticulture and enology. She also earned a master’s degree in plant physiology and production. Her professional experience includes working in Chile’s Cachapoal and Colchagua Valleys, as well as spending a year in Sonoma County, California, where she gained international experience. Her passion for wine began in childhood after watching the movie The Parent Trap, inspiring her lifelong dream of having her own winery in Chile with a wine cave like the one in the film.
What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? 2022 Sundown Syrah
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? I would like to share the wine with my family at family dinner because the wine makes the moment even more special. And my family loves wine too.
What meal are you sharing with your person? Traditional Chilean food. If it is summer a delicious “Pastel de Choclo” and in winter Ëmpanadas”. Of course, both of these need to be cooked by my mom. She is the best at cooking Chilean food.

Before joining our company, Nati worked 2 years at Adelsheim Vineyards. With over a decade in the wine industry, hard work and dedication continue to be strong factors that make Nati such a greatly valued Wine By Joe team member. Nati enjoys travel and photography. He has so far explored Central and North America, taking photos of the beautiful landscapes and people. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his new baby daughter, reading history books and listening to classical music in his nearby home in McMinnville.

If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? Carl Sagan. I love the way he saw and explained how the universe works; It was a very “philosophical” way from my perspective and easy enough to understand. I think he could see many things out there that most of us can’t even imagine.

Liz started her career drawn to creative problem-solving and visual storytelling. She went on to work full-time in the event industry, where she wore many hats. Through this work, Liz naturally transitioned from event execution into marketing, where she could apply her creative background and on-the-ground insights. Her interest in wine blossomed alongside her time in the food and events world, and she continues to deepen her knowledge within the industry. Outside of work, Liz enjoys time at home with her husband and son, often baking in her kitchen.

Kelliegh Brown transitioned from leadership in Oregon’s parks and recreation to Oregon’s wine scene in 2020, bringing her dedication to community and crafting memorable experiences. She enjoys spending time with her Great Dane, Scouty Roo, and is proud to serve the Dundee community as a volunteer firefighter. At Dobbes Family Winery, Kelliegh’s passion for service shines through in the tasting room and event planning, making her a key part of the Dobbes family.

If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? One of my favorite ways to enjoy fall is with a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir on a sunny day in the Willamette Valley, joined by my two best friends, Kat and Becca.

Shipping and Inventory Manager
Dan is our Shipping and Inventory Manager who has been in the wine industry since 2021. Prior to shipping wine, Dan was an elementary and special education teacher in South Carolina for nearly ten years. A Pittsburgh native, Dan loves watching the Penguins and Steelers play when he is not out on a hike enjoying Oregon’s natural beauty. Video games are his hobby and you can usually find him playing in his game room with a cat on his lap and an old fashioned within arms reach.
What is your favorite bottle of wine at Dobbes? 2021 Elements Brut.
If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? Robin Williams. He was one of the most hilarious and kind-hearted people to ever exist. Also, he always had a reverence for video games and viewed them as a valid form of entertainment rather than a waste of time. So much so, that he named his daughter Zelda.
What meal are you sharing with your person? My mom’s homemade lasagna.

Sarah is a Seattle native who moved to Oregon to attend Linfield University. Through her studies at Linfield, she discovered her passion for wine and has been engrossed in the wine world ever since. Sarah has worked at several wineries in the Willamette Valley, allowing her to explore the depth and beauty of Oregon terroir. When Sarah is not at work, you can most likely find her exploring our country’s national parks, cozied up watching movies, or cooking something tasty while listening to music.

Originally from Hanson, Massachusetts, Matt found his passion for wine while working as a letter carrier in his 20s. He later managed a wine shop in Chicago while also playing poker part-time before pursuing a harvest internship at Evesham Wood in the Eola-Amity Hills. Since 2015, he’s been our Lead Hospitality Ambassador in the Tasting Room. Outside of work, Matt enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Amelia, their dog Nora, and cat Chahlie.

Hospitality Ambassador
Matthew spent part of his early childhood in Oregon before life took him elsewhere, including an extended stay in Scottsdale, Arizona, but coming back to the Willamette Valley has felt like coming home. He didn’t set out to work in wine, his early focus was on life sciences, but somewhere along the way a good pour and a great conversation changed his trajectory. Since 2019, he’s worked nearly every side of the industry, from the tasting room to the cellar to back of house shipping and logistics, picking up his Level 1 sommelier certification along the way. These days, what he loves most is creating thoughtful tasting experiences and watching someone discover a wine they didn’t know they’d love. At home, he’s got his fiancée Lily and two cats keeping him on his toes when he is not gaming or writing.

With over 20 years of experience in the wine industry, Brandon has built a career centered on sharing exceptional wines and the stories behind them. He has held leadership roles with Mt. Hood Beverage, Young’s Market (now RNDC), Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, and Pacific Highway Wines, developing strong distributor relationships across the Pacific Northwest. A native Oregonian, Brandon began in a small winery nearly three decades ago. Outside of work, he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, traveling, and home improvement projects.
Accounting & Administrative Assistant
Sherry joined our team in November 2022, eager to learn about the wine industry and stay busy. Growing up in McMinnville, Oregon, she was surrounded by amazing wineries, which inspired her to become our Accounting and Administrative Assistant. Passionate about community service, she has volunteered extensively, including four years as PTA President. In her free time, she enjoys concerts, traveling, camping, binge-watching shows with her daughter, and sharing cocktails with friends.

If you could share that bottle with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? I would love to share a bottle (or two) with my mom who passed away 13 years ago. She was the rock in our family, and I could really use her advice on so many life experiences.
